Klondike Solitaire Turn 1
This is Turn 1 Klondike Solitaire (also written Turn One) — the version where you draw a single card from the stock at a time. It's the most forgiving way to play classic Solitaire: every card in the deck eventually becomes playable, so nothing stays buried by bad luck alone. How to Play Turn 1
The rules are classic Klondike. Seven tableau columns hold 28 cards, with only the top card of each column face up. Build the tableau downward in alternating colors (a red 9 on a black 10), and build the four foundations upward by suit from Ace to King. Any face-up card — or an ordered group of cards — can move between columns, and an empty column can only be filled with a King. When you run out of moves on the board, click the stock to draw one card at a time; that single-card draw is what makes this mode Turn 1. You win when all 52 cards reach the foundations. If you get stuck, undo a few moves or deal a new game — every solver-checked deal marked with a ✓ is provably winnable.
What Makes Turn 1 Different
In Klondike, the draw rule decides the difficulty. With one-card draw you see — and can play — every single card as you cycle through the stock. That means a lost game is almost always a matter of choices, not chance. It's the ideal mode for learning the game, testing strategies, or simply enjoying a relaxed round.

- Higher win rate. Skilled players win roughly 30–45% of Turn One deals, versus 10–25% in Turn Three.
- Beginner friendly. The rules are identical to classic Klondike — only the draw is gentler.
Turn One Strategy Tips
- Work the tableau first. Exhaust all moves on the board before drawing — new information is free, wasted draws are not.
- Uncover face-down cards early. Long columns hide the cards you'll need later.
- Keep foundations balanced. Racing one suit to the top can strand tableau cards that needed it.

Is Turn 1 easier than Turn 3?
Yes. Because you draw one card at a time, every card in the stock becomes playable on each pass. Skilled players win roughly 30–45% of Turn 1 deals, compared with 10–25% in Turn 3, where cards come off the stock in fans of three and only the top of each fan is playable.
Can every Turn 1 game be won?
No — roughly 80% of random deals are solvable. New deals here are checked by a built-in solver: when you see the ✓ winnable mark above the board, that deal has a proven winning line.
Can I switch between Turn 1 and Turn 3?
Yes. The rules are identical — only the draw differs — so you can jump to Klondike Solitaire Turn 3 whenever you want a harder game, or come back here for a relaxed one.
Do I need to download anything?
